Encircling the ancient city of Athens are twelve geographical images that closely correspond to the twelve signs of the most commonly known astrological zodiac. Since the images of this terrestrial zodiac are much easier to discern than their stellar counterparts, the terrestrial zodiac apparently guided the interpretation of star patterns for the astrological zodiac and then later became lost.
