It seems that at one point, Horus, the falcon, was considered to be a symbolic reflection or other characterization of the sun's mid-day being.45 The "Eye of Horus" often depicted in Egyptian art and hieroglyphics was, as one can now see, a stylized representation of this falcon's eye formed principally by Asia Minor, the Eastern Mediterranean, the Nile, and the Red Sea. |
